more about these holidays
About this holiday:
Autumn Equinox the second of three harvest celebrations. It is the culmination of the growing season and peak harvest. This is traditionally when the large harvest celebrations were held, much in the style of today’s Thanksgiving gatherings. It was a time to finally rest after harvest, to celebrate abundance, and take stock. It is also a time to celebrate our achievements of the year so far.
At Autumn Equinox the work is done, for better or worse, the harvest is in. We organize the cupboards to make room for the bounty of the season, as we prepare for the coming winter.
Autumn Equinox is that point in a personal project when the work is done. That point when we take a step back for a final look before we declare it finished. Sure, we might still see a few things we could do differently if we had it to do over, but this version is done. We sit back and celebrate the achievement.
The autumn Equinox menu focuses on variety and abundance. Many of us will make our thanksgiving meals at this time of year.
