Welcome
to the Earth Spirit Hearth and Home Recipe Site

Cooking is one of our most ancient activities. When we let it, it grounds us in the traditions of our ancestors, of our chosen communities, and the ancient wisdom within the food itself. Cooking is an act of magic, in the sense that magic is change with intention: The energy and wisdom of the ingredients come together to create something new, and as we stir the pot our energy and emotions become part of the dish as well. Cooking is an expression of love; for the land that grew the food, for the seasonal at hand, for each carefully chosen ingredient, and for the people who eat the food.

Because food culture evolves over time, the seasonal menus and recipes referred to in The Earth Spirit Hearth and Home are published here. Some recipes come from my family's traditions, and others belong to cultural traditions and the greater community. I hope they bring joy to each of your seasonal holidays.
