Berry Crisp
This a great dessert for camping. A little prep before leaving makes it an easy dish as well.
What you need:
Topping: 1 cup flour 1/2 cup packed brown sugar ½ cup chopped walnuts ½ cup chopped oatmeal 8 Tbsp butter pinch of salt Filling: 4 - 5 cups berries 3/4 cup white sugar 3 Tbsp cornstarch 2 tsp Soul Warming Cinnamon Blend |
Method:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Butter a baking dish, either 9 by 9-inch or 11 by 7-inch.
Wash and prep berries. if using strawberries, slice or cut into halves or quarters. Place in mixing bowl.
in a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, walnuts, oats, and salt. Cut butter into pieces and add to bowl, Use fingers to work butter into dry ingredients until it resembles a coarse meal. set aside.
in small bowl, mix white sugar and cornstarch, add to berry bowl and toss to coat the berries. Pour berries into baking dish and sprinkle Soul Warming Cinnamon Blend over the top. Crumble the topping evenly over the top and place in oven.
Bake until filling is bubbling and topping is a golden brown, about 30 - 35 minutes.
Great warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Start medium size pile of coals, let burn for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile slice fruit and berries if using strawberries. Toss berries with container 1. Coat Dutch oven with a thin layer of oil. Add berries, then sprinkle the Soul Warming Cinnamon Blend over the top. Cover with ingredients from container 2. Separate out 10 coals and place Dutch oven onto these 10 coals. Place 8 coals on lid. Let berries simmer on medium-low heat until filling is bubbling and topping is a golden brown, about 15-20 minutes. Add or remove coals to keep temperature even.
