Berry Crisp
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Butter a baking dish, either 9 by 9-inch or 11 by 7-inch.
Wash and prep berries. If using strawberries, slice or cut into halves or quarters. Place in a mixing bowl.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, walnuts, oats, and salt. Cut butter into pieces and add to bowl. Use your fingers to work the butter into dry ingredients until it resembles a coarse meal. Set aside.
In a small bowl, mix white sugar and cornstarch. Add to the berry bowl and toss to coat the berries. Pour the berries into a baking dish and sprinkle nutmeg over the top. Crumble the topping evenly over the top and place in the oven.
Bake until the filling is bubbling and the topping is golden brown, about 30 - 35 minutes.
Great warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
