Fruit and Berry Crisp
Prep ahead of time:
Container 1 mix: 3/4 cup sugar 3 Tbsp cornstarch pinch of salt Container 2 mix: 1 cup flour 1/2 cup packed brown sugar ½ cup chopped walnuts ½ cup chopped oatmeal pinch of salt Prep at campsite: 8 Tbsp cold butter 4 - 5 cups berries and/or fruit 2 tsp Soul Warming Cinnamon Blend oil |
Method:
Prep and mix the dry ingredients before leaving for camping trip.
Start medium size pile of coals, let burn for about 20 minutes. Meanwhile slice fruit and berries if using strawberries. Add to bowl and toss with container 1. In a separate bowl, add ingredients from container 2. Dice butter and add to bowl. Use fingers to work butter into dry ingredients until it resembles a coarse meal. Coat Dutch oven with a thin layer of oil. Add fruit mix, then sprinkle the Soul Warming Cinnamon Blend over fruit. Cover with flour mixture. Separate out 10 coals and place Dutch oven on these 10 coals. Place 8 coals on lid. Let fruit and berries simmer on low to medium heat until flour mixture is cooked, about 30 minutes. Add or remove coals to keep temperature even.
